Life Length has assembled a multidisciplinary team of professionals with extensive experience in management, business and science.
Steve is Life Length’s CEO as well as a founding shareholder. He has led the Company since inception and assisted in establishing the company as the world leader in telomere measurements and diagnostics. Steve brings twenty-five years’ experience as a senior executive, entrepreneur and investment banker to the Company. Mr. Matlin obtained his MBA at Harvard Business School and his undergraduate degree from Dartmouth College.
Juan Pablo is the Non-Executive Chairman of Life Length. He possesses over 25 years’ experience in Investment Banking, Finance, Management Consulting and Industry. He is the former CEO of Rothschild Investment Banking Spanish operations. Currently, he holds a number of different Advisory and Board positions in a variety of Spanish and International companies. These companies operate in different sectors and countries and, normally, have leading positions in their respective markets. He holds a Bachelor in Law and Business Administration Diploma from ICADE University in Madrid. He is fluent in Spanish, English, French and Italian.
Dr Pilar Najarro is Life Length’s COO, CSO and member of the Board. She possesses over 20 years’ international experience in the life sciences industries. Dr Najarro obtained her Ph.D. in cellular biology from SUNY in New York, later expanding her research interests at Imperial College in London. She subsequently worked in both small innovative biotech companies and large pharma (at AstraZeneca). She has also extensive experience in technology transfer, intellectual property (patents, know-how and trademarks) and licensing during her work as a biotech consultant and in business development for one of Spain´s most important translational research initiatives, CIMA, before joining Life Length in 2014. Since them she has led the company regulatory and quality accreditations and certifications (CLIA, ISO and CE marking), product development, clinical trial organization and fund-raising efforts.
Dr. Lissette Otero is the Chief Medical Officer of Life Length, world leader in telomere and telomerase measurement and diagnostics. She’s been working with us for one year and four moths. She is a Clinical Pathology Specialist with a broad background and laboratory training at La Paz University Hospital in Madrid. Dr. Otero has wide experience as Specialist IN Medical Genetics and Genomics and as Medical Consultant in molecular diagnosis of sexually transmitted diseases, genetic screening of obesity predisposition, prostate, cervix and breast cancer and prenatal diagnosis. Dr. Otero obtained her MBA at EAE Business School/Barcelona University, Master in Aesthetic and Antiaging Medicine at Universidad Complutense de Madrid, Master in Phlebology and Lymphology at Universidad Internacional de Andalucía. She is accredited as Internal Auditor for ISO 15189:2012 Medical Laboratories – Requirements for quality and competence and, as Internal Auditor for ISO 13485:2016 Medical devices-Quality management systems-Requirements for regulatory purposes.
Dr. Nuria de Pedro is the R&D Director of Life Length. She obtained her PhD in biochemistry and molecular biology from Autonoma University of Madrid. She possesses over 15 years’ experience in pharma companies. Published author of 30+ manuscripts in international scientist journals, 1 book chapter and 6 patents (Oncology and Neurodegeneration diseases). She joined Life Length in 2016, since then she has led the automation process, clinical trials, process and products development under quality accreditations and certifications.
Patricia is Human Resources Director at Life Length and PA to the CEO. She also provides all administrative management for the company. Patricia was one of Life Length’s first employees in 2011 and has actively participated in the development of the company. She studied Translation and Interpretation at the University of Granada and then obtained a Trilingual EA degree at Maurice Ravel School in Paris. She also has an International Executive Master’s degree for PA and a Public Relations and Protocol Master’s degree. Previously she worked as Executive Assistant in the Italian retail firm Giorgio Armani Spain. Patricia is multilingual and speaks English, French, Spanish, Italian and German.
Javier Antón Arespacochaga obtained his Bachelor in Business Management and Administration from the Autonomous University of Madrid, specialized in finance and marketing. He started his career at Wincor Nixdorf in Madrid, as an intern for the Commercial Department in 2008. By the end of 2009 he was transferred to the Finance Department for the Latin America RHQ as a project controller for the region, focusing on México, Colombia, Argentina and Chile. In 2014 he was transferred to México City to run the Service Division as a Senior Controller managing the finance department for the whole division. In 2016, he moved to the USA to work for iAdvise Partners LLC in business development and finance. He joined Life Length in Madrid in December 2017 as Senior Accountant.
Enrique Segovia is Life Length’s IT Director. Putting the “tech” in “Biotech”, he is in charge of the information infrastructure that supports the company’s business, ranging from data protection and integrity policies to optimization of computational processes. The technical know-how provided by his title of Computer Science Engineer from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid is complimented with more than ten years of experience in the field, including co-founding several telecommunications companies, both in Spain and abroad.
Nila Castelló heads the Business Development team since 2018 focusing in the company commercial development, clinical regulatory advancement and market access of Life Length’s biomarkers as new in vitro diagnostic products. Specialized in Clinical Medicine (Veterinary B.S at the Autonomous University of Barcelona), she completed her graduate studies in the US at the prestigious Cornell University. Nila later focused her career in International Business. She did her first master in International Trade at the University of Barcelona and, later on, she completed her studies with an MBA at ICEX-CECO. Before joining Life Length, she worked for the Spanish Council of Foreign Commerce (ICEX) as Business Development trade advisor at the Spanish Embassy in Seoul, South Korea.
Dr. María Diez joined Life Length in 2011. She currently supervises the daily operation of the laboratory and is in charge of all quality documentation and procedures ensuring compliance with the relevant standards. She has extensive research experience in fields such as oncology and neurochemistry. She received a PhD in Biochemistry from the Complutense University of Madrid and deepened her scientific interests at the Goethe Universitat de Frankfurt and the Molecular Biology Center “Severo Ochoa”.
