Life Length has assembled a multidisciplinary team of professionals with extensive experience in management, business and science.
Steve is Life Length’s Chairman and CEO as well as a founding shareholder. He has led the Company since inception and assisted in establishing the company as the world leader in telomere measurements and diagnostics. Steve brings twenty-five years’ experience as a senior executive, entrepreneur and investment banker to the Company. Mr. Matlin obtained his MBA at Harvard Business School and his undergraduate degree from Dartmouth College.
Juan Pablo is the Non-Executive Vice-Chairman of Life Length. He possesses over 25 years’ experience in Investment Banking, Finance, Management Consulting and Industry. He is the former CEO of Rothschild Investment Banking Spanish operations. Currently, he holds a number of different Advisory and Board positions in a variety of Spanish and International companies. These companies operate in different sectors and countries and, normally, have leading positions in their respective markets. He holds a Bachelor in Law and Business Administration Diploma from ICADE University in Madrid. He is fluent in Spanish, English, French and Italian.
Dr. Pilar Najarro is Life Length’s COO and Laboratory Director. She possesses over 20 years’ international experience in life sciences industries. Dr. Najarro obtained her Ph.D. in cellular biology from SUNY in New York, later expanding her research interests at Imperial College in London. She subsequently worked in both small innovative biotech companies and large pharma at (AstraZeneca). She has also extensive experience in technology transfer and licensing during her work as a biotech consultant and in business development for one Spain´s most important translational research initiatives, CIMA, before joining Life Length in 2014.
Dr. Lissette Otero is the Chief Medical Officer and Laboratory Director of Life Length, world leader in telomere and telomerase measurement and diagnostics. She is a Clinical Pathology Specialist with a broad background and laboratory training at La Paz University Hospital in Madrid. Dr. Otero has wide experience as Medical Consultant in molecular diagnosis of sexually transmitted diseases, genetic screening of obesity predisposition, prostate, cervix and breast cancer and prenatal diagnosis. Dr. Otero obtained her MBA at EAE Business School/Barcelona University, Master in Aesthetic and Antiaging Medicine at Universidad Complutense de Madrid, Master in Phlebology and Lymphology at Universidad Internacional de Andalucía.
Dr. Nuria de Pedro holds a degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and a PhD in Biology from the Autonomous University of Madrid, having written a thesis entitled “Characterization of cell death mechanisms induced by different types of Annonaceae Acerogenins in human tumour cell lines”. In 1999 she joined MSD Spain, as a senior scientist, where she was responsible for the cell culture department, among other areas. In 2009 he joined the Medina Foundation, a research organization focused on the discovery of new compounds and innovative therapies. Dr. De Pedro has extensive experience in the field of molecular and cellular biology, as well as in High Throughput Screening projects.
Dr. Juan Camilo Estrada received his Bachelor in Biochemistry from the Autonomous University of Madrid. He earned his Ph.D. in Molecular Biology at the prestigious National Center for Cardiovascular Diseases (CNIC). During his Ph.D. program he focused in the study of oxidative stress on genetic stability and biosafety of human stem cells for his therapeutic application. After his doctorate, he specialized in the study of non-canonical activity of telomerase in the cell metabolism and senescence. His works has allowed him to participate in various international conferences and publish several scientific articles in the arena of regenerative medicine and ageing, and develop a patent to identifying new genetic and transcriptional biomarkers of cellular senescence in culture. Dr. Estrada has extensive experience in the field of human molecular cytogenetic with strong handling of different probes (PNA, CEP and LSI) for the chromosome labeling by classic fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) and derived techniques as multicolor FISH (M-FISH) and quantitative FISH (Q-FISH).
Patricia is Admin. Manager at Life Length and PA to the CEO. She is also in charge of the Human Resources and provides all administrative management for the company. Patricia was one of Life Length’s first employees in 2010 and has actively participated in the development of the company. She studied Translation and Interpretation at the University of Granada and then obtained a Trilingual EA degree at Maurice Ravel School in Paris. She also has an International Executive Master’s degree for PA and a Public Relations and Protocol Master’s degree. Previously she worked as Executive Assistant in the Italian retail firm Giorgio Armani Spain. Patricia is multilingual and speaks English, French, Spanish and Italian.
Javier Antón Arespacochaga obtained his Bachelor in Busines s Management and Administration from the Autonomous University of Madrid, specialized in marketing and finance. He started his career at Wincor Nixdorf in Madrid, first as an intern for the Commercial Department in 2008. During 2010 he was transferred to the Finance Department for the Latin America RHQ as a project controller for the region, focusing on México, Colombia, Argentina and Chile. In 2014 he was transferred to México City to run the Service Division as a Senior Controlling managing finance department for the whole division. In 2016, he moved to the USA to work for iAdvise Partners LLC in business development and finance. He joined Life Length in Madrid in December 2017 as Senior Accountant
Dr. María Diez oversees the smooth running of the lab and is in charge of compliance and quality related documentation. During her final university studies she joined the laboratory of Dr. Manuel Guzmán at the Complutense University of Madrid, studying the proapoptotic effect of cannabinoids on a tumoral cell line. She obtained her Ph.D. in Biochemistry at the Complutense University of Madrid under the direction of Dra. María Teresa Miras Portugal and Dr. Miguel Díaz Hernández, focused on purinergic neurotransmission. During her thesis she joined Dr. Herbert Zimmermann’s laboratory at the Goethe Universitat in Frankfurt, where she worked on the study of ectonucleotidases which evolved into her thesis on the effect of one of these enzymes on axonal growth. In addition, she collaborated with Dr. J.J. Lucas at the Centro de Biología Molecular “Severo Ochoa” in Madrid, extending the work of her thesis to the study of one purinergic receptor on Huntington’s Disease.
Enrique Segovia is Life Length’s IT Manager and responsible for the IT and technological systems of the company. He is in charge of the design and maintenance of the systems infrastructure, the integrity and protection of data as well as of the optimization of computing resources. Enrique is a computer science engineer graduated from the Universidad Complutense of Madrid. He possesses more than 10 years of experience as an IT manager, DB administrator, and has co-founded several telecom companies in Spain and abroad.

Our Laboratory is located in the prestigious Scientific Park of Madrid within the campus of the Autonomous University of Madrid at 7 Faraday Street, Cantoblanco.
Laboratory working hours are from Monday to Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
