DAO deficiency test

DAO (diamine oxidase) is an enzyme that is responsible for the degradation of histamine, a neurotransmitter and cell signaling, which can be produced by our body but also appears derived and can be ingested from some foods in the diet. Its absence leads to an increase in circulating histamine, which can lead to gastrointestinal discomfort, headaches (migraine), asthenia, skin symptoms, among others.
